Setting out for umrah for the first time is often filled with joy mixed with anxiety because so much is still unknown. With proper preparation, that worry can turn into calm. This concise guide helps you understand the big picture of the journey from start to your return home.
The first step is choosing an official, licensed umrah operator. Make sure the travel agency holds a valid licence, has a clear departure schedule, and offers a transparent contract and cost breakdown. After registering, arrange the main documents such as a passport with sufficient validity, and complete other required conditions such as vaccination. Follow all the operator's guidance on paperwork and deadlines.
Preparing knowledge is as important as preparing physically. Attend the manasik training seriously, for there you learn how to enter ihram, the intention, tawaf, sa'i, and tahallul, complete with their prayers. As a general overview, the pillars of umrah include ihram with intention, tawaf circling the Kaaba seven times, sa'i between Safa and Marwah, and tahallul (cutting the hair). Also learn the prohibitions during ihram so you do not violate them unintentionally.
Prepare physically well in advance by getting used to walking, because umrah demands a lot of it. Maintain your diet, rest enough, and get a health check if needed.
